Defining Spunbond Non-Woven Fabric

Spunbond non-woven fabric is an engineered synthetic textile produced directly from 100% virgin polypropylene (PP) homopolymer resin. Continuous extruded polymer filaments are aerodynamically attenuated, laid into a multi-directional isotropic web, and thermally bonded using heated embossing calender rolls.

Unlike traditional woven or knitted textiles that require separate spinning, weaving, or knitting steps, Spunbond non-woven fabrics are formed in a single, high-speed continuous extrusion process.

The Continuous Filament Architecture:

  • **Continuous Polypropylene Filaments (15–25 µm):** Molecularly oriented polymer chains providing exceptional tensile breaking strength and abrasion resistance.
  • **Isotropic Random Web Matrix:** Air-assisted vacuum deposition creates a balanced multi-angle fiber laydown with uniform basis weight (GSM) distribution.
  • **Thermal Calender Point-Bonding:** Discrete embossed contact points (diamond, sesame, or oval) weld filaments together without chemical binders or adhesives.

Why Polypropylene Homopolymer?

Polypropylene (PP) is the global benchmark thermoplastic resin for Spunbond non-wovens due to its: 1. Low density and specific gravity (0.91 g/cm³), making it lightweight yet mechanically robust. 2. Inherent hydrophobicity, easily adapted with topical surfactant treatments for hydrophilic or anti-static performance. 3. Clean thermal melting window (160°C–165°C) allowing 100% mechanical thermal bonding. 4. Non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and fully recyclable characteristics within circular economy loops.
